- Urinary Calm is specially formulated for adult cats to prevent (recurring) formation of struvite and calcium oxalate crystals and to reduce stress.
TROVET production has been moved to Spain. The shape, appearance, and smell of the new food packages will differ from the existing products. The composition remains the same, as does the quality. Picky dogs and cats may be reluctant to eat it due to the different smell. In this situation, we recommend gradually switching from the "old" packages to the "new" ones by gradually mixing the food. Over the course of a few days, increase the amount from the new package and reduce the amount from the old package.
To prevent struvite formation, TROVET Urinary Calm contains urinary acidifiers to lower the urine pH to a value between 6.0 and 6.4. The product's phosphorus level is low because it is one of the elements that form the structure of struvite. To reduce the risk of calcium oxalate formation, ingredients have been selected to minimize oxalate production and excretion. A larger urine volume reduces the risk of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystal precipitation. To encourage fluid intake, TROVET Urinary Calm contains increased sodium levels (within a reasonable range). To reduce stress and the risk of feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC), TROVET Urinary Calm is enriched with three ingredients: green tea extract, milk protein hydrolysate, and tryptophan. TROVET Urinary Calm is a complete and balanced dietary food that can be fed for life. Indications:
* Recurrent struvite and calcium oxalate formation
* Stress
Contraindications:
* Growth (not suitable for kittens)
* Pregnancy, lactation
* Cats currently receiving urinary acidifying medications
* Cats with urinary stones that are not composed of struvite or calcium oxalate
Additional Information:
* Has a urine-diluting effect, which helps reduce the risk of FIC and the chance of stone formation.
* Magnesium is at a safely low level,
* eliminating the risk of hypomagnesemia during long-term preventative use.
* Limits the absorption of minerals that lead to struvite formation.
Indications for use:
It is recommended to consult a veterinarian before using this diet. The recommended duration of use for Urinary Calm is a maximum of 6 months; Urinary Calm can be fed for life as a complete dietary food.
