Additional information
Indications:
Renal failure.
Liver diseases associated with encephalopathy.
Early stages of congestive heart failure.
Hypertension.
It also contains reduced calcium, vitamin D3 and urinary alkalising ingredients, which are recommended for patients with known oxalate lithiasis.
Reduced phosphorus content - Prevents the development of hyperphosphatemia and associated kidney damage.
Limited but high value protein - Reduces the formation of uremic toxins and the absorption of non-essential amino acids.
Reduced sodium content - Compensates for the reduced ability of the affected kidneys to regulate sodium (thereby reducing the risk of hypertension).
Addition of potassium citrate - Reduces the risk of hypokalaemia and helps maintain an acidic urine reaction, necessary to prevent the formation of calcium oxalate stones.
Source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids - Help reduce glomerular hypertension and minimise inflammation.
Urine non-acidifying diet - Leads to a urine pH of 6.7 - 7.1 when fed at will, which reduces the risk of acidosis and helps control urolithiasis (calcium oxalates) and supports therapy for oxalate lithiasis.
Desired urinary pH 7.1 +/- 0.4.
