- Dietary feed containing an important source of glucose, calcium and magnesium ions during the periparturient period in cows. Capacity 5l.
VET-AGRO Propical 5l - Product description
Dietetic feed containing an important source of glucose, calcium and magnesium ions during the periparturient period in cows.
Propical is used during the periparturient period in cows to reduce the risk of milk fever, thanks to its high levels of calcium in the form of readily available calcium salts, or ketosis, thanks to ingredients providing glucogenic energy sources.
Magnesium contained in the formula favourably influences the absorption and efficiency of calcium utilisation.
A proper diet influences the cow's well-being, thus reducing the possibility of perinatal complications and increasing milk production.
Composition
- Propylene glycol (7,5%)
- Calcium chloride (8%)
- Magnesium chloride
Composition analysis
- Manufacturer does not provide a compositional analysis
Additives
- Calcium propionate
- Lactic acid
- Guar gum
Dosage
To reduce the risk of milk fever: feed 1-2 times daily with 500 ml of product. Use from the first signs of parturition and continue for 2 days after calving.
To reduce the risk of ketosis: administer 500 ml of product 1-2 times a day, from 3 to 6 weeks postpartum.
Care must be taken during administration to prevent the animal from choking.
Additional information
Propylene glycol (a component of the substrate) causes an increase in glucose concentration and inhibition of ketogenesis (formation of ketone bodies) after intravenous administration. The glucoplastic effect of propylene glycol is also due to the formation of pyruvic acid (a glucose precursor). Scientific studies show that the addition of propylene glycol in the postpartum period prevents and reduces the possibility of ketosis, has a beneficial effect on increasing milk yield and improving fertility rates in cows.
